WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced, ambitious environment and brings:

  • Experience of working within a law firm risk, compliance or onboarding team.
  • A solid understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct, Money Laundering Regulations.
  • A flexible and collaborative approach to work and a willingness to undertake new or challenging projects with support.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills – ability to work on long tail projects whist managing ‘business as usual’ queries.
  • The ability to undertake research and produce required reports.
  • Excellent IT skills across the MS suite of programmes along with a willingness to learn new systems. Excel skills essential. Knowledge of CreditSafe or Peppermint conflict checker advantageous.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll be a point of referral for legal teams, providing first line response on a range of risk and compliance issues but with a focus on AML/Financial Crime, Sanctions and Conflicts of Interest.

In this role you’ll:

  • Provide guidance and support to legal teams with queries received into the team’s ‘Inbox’ about the Firm’s risk management policies and processes with an emphasis on AML/Financial Crime and Sanctions compliance.
  • Respond to conflicts of interest queries, reviewing matter files and interpreting the SRA Code of Conduct in order to provide guidance on conflicts - escalating to the Senior Associate/Executive Director for Risk and Compliance as appropriate.
  • Provide technical support to legal teams on the use of the onboarding software and helping them to search accurately and interpret results.
  • Review and collate information and documents to support internal and external audits and projects including Lexcel accreditation and new systems implementations (collaborating with IT and business analysts).
  • Assist the Executive Director for Risk and Compliance with policy updates and guidance notes/comms to the business.
