Job Description Regulatory Compliance & Governance Ensure full compliance with all applicable South African legislation, including but not limited to: National Gambling Act Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board Act and Regulations FICA POPIA All other relevant gaming, financial crime, and data protection legislation Act as the primary point of contact for regulators, licensing authorities, and external compliance stakeholders. Manage all licensing, approvals, submissions, renewals, and regulatory reporting requirements. Ensure ongoing compliance with provincial licensing conditions and statutory obligations. Maintain audit readiness at all times and manage regulatory inspections and audits. Embed a culture of compliance, accountability, and ethical conduct across the business. Risk Management & RMCP Ownership Own and maintain the Risk Management and Compliance Programme (RMCP) in line with legislative and regulatory requirements. Regularly review, update, and enhance the RMCP to reflect regulatory changes, business growth, and emerging risks. Develop, update and maintain internal processes and policies in line with the RMCP Identify, assess, document, and mitigate operational, financial, regulatory, and reputational risks. Develop and maintain risk registers, control frameworks, and monitoring plans. Provide regular risk reporting and recommendations to senior management. Financial Crime, Fraud & Player Risk Run the end-to-end risk function across the betting operation. Design, implement, and monitor fraud detection and prevention frameworks. Identify and investigate fraud, bonus abuse, arbitrage, syndicate play, and other forms of player manipulation. Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), investigations, and player risk assessments where required. Oversee AML controls, suspicious transaction monitoring, and reporting obligations. Work closely with payments, customer support, and trading teams to manage player risk effectively. Monitoring, Controls & Reporting Monitor all statutory and regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls aligned to legislation and best practice. Track regulatory changes and proactively assess business impact. Produce clear, accurate compliance and risk reporting for management and regulators. Ensure proper record-keeping and documentation in line with statutory requirements. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Operations, Finance, Product, Technology, and Customer Support teams to embed risk and compliance controls into day-to-day operations. Support product launches, promotions, and platform changes from a risk and compliance perspective. Provide guidance and training to internal teams on compliance obligations and risk awareness. Engage external advisors, auditors, and service providers where required Qualifications Required: Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a Risk and/or Compliance role within iGaming, betting, financial services, or a similarly regulated environment. Strong, practical working knowledge of: National Gambling Act Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board Act FICA and AML frameworks POPIA Proven experience managing licensing, regulatory submissions, and regulator engagement. Hands-on experience in fraud detection, AML, bonus abuse, syndicate play, and player investigations. Experience developing, maintaining, and operationalising RMCPs.
