Ngā Kōrero mō tēnei tūranga / About the role We’re looking for an experienced Risk & Quality (R&Q) expert to join our Advisory team at Director level, based in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. With a primary focus on our Deals practice, and a secondary focus across the wider Advisory portfolio (Consulting and Risk Services), you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring PwC delivers quality outcomes while meeting its regulatory, risk, and independence obligations. You’ll work closely with Partners, R&Q leaders, and business stakeholders to strengthen compliance frameworks, manage complex risk matters, and shape how quality and independence are managed across Advisory. You’ll also connect with our global R&Q network to align on standards, share insights, and drive continuous improvement. In this role, you will: Act as a technical expert on Advisory R&Q policies and procedures, including advising the Engagement Acceptance Committee on complex matters Provide expert guidance on Deals service offerings, risk profiles, contracting, and quality management Assess new business and engagements, applying appropriate safeguards in line with global independence requirements Support the Global Quality Engagement Programme, ensuring quality and consistency across engagements Lead the resolution of complex risk, independence, and compliance matters with sound judgment Prepare and present high-quality Executive and Board-level reporting Stay ahead of emerging risks and new service models such as AI and Managed Services Collaborate with global and local R&Q teams to implement network policies and strengthen compliance Explore and apply GenAI and automation tools to enhance risk management and reporting Ngā pūkenga kei a koe / Skills and experience To be successful, you’ll bring: 8+ years’ experience in risk management, independence, or compliance within professional services, ideally in a Deals or Advisory environment Deep understanding of Advisory R&Q frameworks, contracting, and compliance requirements Proven experience advising senior leaders and committees on complex R&Q and independence matters Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and professional judgment Excellent communication skills - confident engaging with Partners and stakeholders at all levels Proficiency in Microsoft suite, web-based systems, and GenAI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) Experience preparing and presenting high-quality reports and recommendations A university degree Ngā āhuatanga hirahira o te mahi ki PwC / Highlights of working at PwC NZ Growth - Global network; leadership development; AI tools and training; formal learning pathways Reputation - PwC is known for shaping tomorrow.
