Description

We are looking for an experienced Technical Delivery Manager to join our Workflows Engineering team. The role will collaborate with the Director of Portfolio and Business Management working closely with community team leads, product owners and have full oversight of the risk profile for the engineering area.
They will be responsible for the oversight of a very large technical estate and crafting transparency for senior leaders in the Workflows engineering and business lines where there are opportunities to improve and proactively address risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Applies expert understanding and knowledge of industry standard methodologies
  • Coordinates the provision of key management information for risk committees and working groups
  • Enables other managers to build visibility around the delivery of high-impact risk management programmes (where applicable)
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships across the organisation with a view to collating and assessing business information throughout the year and update the assessments of the risks
  • Takes appropriate actions to supervise, report and mitigate risks outside of risk appetite
  • Provides input to critical initiatives within group risk and supports delivery of training.

Specific Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Leadership - Leads projects and promotes an inclusive and open culture with all members of the team, including business analysts, architects, quality assurance engineers, and development management to ensure all have a full understanding of scope
  • Technology delivery - owns the delivery across engineering teams continuing to build and demonstrate a breadth of experience of various domains within technology, understanding the linkages and dependencies of projects/work and the key senior partners.
  • Planning - Accountable for co-ordinating the plans to address resilience requirements across the estate, including partnering with Development Leads to ensure technology plans are fully and accurately reflected in overall plans and roadmaps.
  • Dependency management - Ensures all impacts of dependencies are made transparent to all interested parties.
  • Risk and Issue Management - Proactively manages risks and issues in a timely manner and has the confidence to make decisions to mitigate or resolve when required.
  • Team performance - Works with project teams to ensure efficient delivery performance throughout execution and see opportunities to improve timelines, throughput, and quality.
  • Problem solving and decision making - Has sound judgment using assertiveness and influencing skills to ensure items are discussed and decisions made and agreed in a timely manner.
  • Governance - Manages any technology team governance and adheres to the overall programme governance to ensure all partners and team members are aligned and effective in delivery.

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience of working in a large scale, Premier Investment Bank or for a wider Financial Services Organisation.
  • Validated experience in delivering large-scale technical projects/programmes in a hands-on capacity.
  • A software delivery background would be highly advantageous due to the technical nature of the deliverables.
  • Extensive stakeholder management experience, together with the management of external vendor relationships.
  • Experience of working in a sophisticated, high-paced environment with global teams.

Nice to have:

  • Professional qualification or equivalent
  • Basic financial understanding of trading systems and financial markets.
  • Hardware and Operating system knowledge across multiple technology types
