Job Description
The Risk Control Officer is responsible for the delivery of key elements of Aegon Asset Management’s risk control framework, including risk and control (self) assessments (RCSA), and the delivery of a holistic and integrated risk control framework and control assurance plan.
An important part of the role is to build strong relationships with business stakeholders. As part of this role the successful candidate will influence the embedding good risk and control behaviors within the first line.
Another important purpose is to provide external auditors with relevant risk and controls related information in a structured manner, acting as the conduit between our external auditor and the business.

Responsibilities

  • Assist is the development and maintenance of the holistic and integrated risk and internal control framework
  • Assist in the delivery of the annual control assurance plan
  • Assist in the development and execution of global RCSA plan
  • Oversee embedding of controls within BPDs and champion first line risk ownership
  • Manage relationships with external auditors for internal control assurance reports
  • Provide input into global and local risk reporting with respect to RCSAs and controls testing

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Possible professional certification: Preferred certifications may include Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or other relevant certifications in risk management and internal controls.
  • Roughly 3-5 years of experience in risk management, internal controls, audit, or a related field within the financial services industry, asset management or investment management is highly desirable.
  • Ability to assist in the development and maintenance of holistic and integrated risk and internal control frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data and identify key risk and control issues.
  • Effective project management skills to oversee the embedding of controls within Business Process Descriptions (BPDs) and champion first-line risk ownership.
