This role is pivotal in driving the growth, profitability, and operational efficiency of our risk control services across property, casualty and workers compensation lines of business through a multi-line industry lens. Duties and Responsibilities: Operational Execution: Lead and manage a team of risk consultants and engineers to improve underwriting results through expert technical support, risk improvement, risk retention strategies, and underwriting risk assessment. Accountable for building a high-performance culture that focuses on continuous process improvement and effective workforce management. Establish and monitor performance metrics to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the risk control services team. Oversee benchmarking for team productivity across all supported lines of business. Effectively triages work to achieve appropriate utilization of Onsite and Virtual capabilities. Activating Risk Control Services Value Proposition: Leverage the risk control service capabilities and scale of the broader Liberty Mutual organization to position Risk Control Services as a key market differentiator. Actively participates in the strategic planning process with our market partners, maximizing impact on customer risk of loss as well as market differentiation with brokers. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (underwriting) and external stakeholders (brokers and clients) to enhance market position. Drive Innovation and Operational Efficiencies: Lead initiatives focused on the evolution of the risk assessment process, including the build-out of the LC360 risk control services platform. Implement tools that improve our understanding of risks and help clients better manage risk. Team Development: Promote employee development through effective planning, coaching, mentoring, training, and cross-training facilitation. Ensures alignment between staff technical/consultative skills and service strategy needs, as well as internal quality standards. Identifies skills gaps and develops strategies for improvement in collaboration with Specialists. Recruits a high-performing, results-oriented staff. Fosters internal talent mobility to build deeper talent pipelines that result in greater diversification of staff. Client and Broker Engagement: Engage with brokers and clients to understand their needs and drive tailored risk management solutions, enhancing client satisfaction and loyalty. Collaboration: Maintain effective partnerships with Canadian underwriting, actuarial, and claims; and risk services global partners. Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients. Vendor Management: Collaborate to select vendors and manage implementation to ensure high standards of risk control services. Technical Expertise: Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge of risk control services principles, practices, and services. Collaborate in developing technical content including white papers, training materials, and resources. Skills & Qualifications: Education: Post-secondary degree in business, risk management, or a related field. Experience: 10+ years in risk management or risk control services, including 5+ years managing a team of risk engineers or consultants. Proven track record in strategic planning and program delivery, scaling technical services, managing client portfolios and senior stakeholders, and ownership of targets or equivalent experience. Skills: Demonstrated leadership and a growth mindset that inspires teams, drive accountability, and deliver outcomes to market partners. Proven skills in strategic and operational planning, relationship building, customer service, and achieving operational results. Proven strong ability to effectively collaborate and influence others, along with effective written and oral communication skills. Other demonstrated skills include managerial courage, thought leadership, strong business acumen, diverse and inclusive leadership, and the ability to inspire/motivate others. Knowledge: A strong understanding of the specialty/commercial marketplace. In-depth knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, insurance and underwriting processes, legal and regulatory requirements, and emerging risk service trends in the specialty commercial marketplace.
