JOB INFORMATION (INCL. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Reporting to the SVP & Team Lead, the Risk Director will primarily be responsible for evaluating and reporting counterparty risks, encompassing both due diligence of prospective new customers as well as the continuous management of existing lessees within the EMEA and the Americas region. This role will be integral to the risk management process at CDB Aviation and will involve extensive collaboration with teams across the business at various levels. The Risk Director will also frequently visit airlines as part of the origination and ongoing portfolio management processes.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct comprehensive credit analysis of existing and prospective lessees, as well as potential portfolio acquisitions including, where applicable, ongoing monitoring over the lease lifecycle.
• Evaluate and clearly report on transactional and portfolio-level credit, concentration and market risks within the aviation sector.
• Complete on-site due diligence meetings with airlines internationally to assess areas such as financial performance, the business plan and strategy and fleet planning issues.
• Draft and present transaction approval papers to the relevant internal committees to support decision-making.
• Maintaining accurate and up to date records of customer financial reports and monitoring timely receipt of such information.
• Monitoring macroeconomic trends in conjunction with analysis of industry specific developments.
• Proactive monitoring of problem accounts, flagging risks exposures, supporting the active management of these accounts and participating actively in workout teams to ensure maximum recovery.
• Developing and recommending risk mitigation strategies, tailored to customer profiles and transaction structures.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree qualified in a relevant discipline such as economics, aircraft leasing and financing, mathematics, etc. CFA or a professional accountancy qualification are also viewed favourably.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the aircraft leasing and financing industry. A proven track record within the industry is a prerequisite.
• Strong problem solving and financial skills including the ability to interpret and analyse customer financial statements and make forward projections to help guide the business.
• Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to develop strong relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
• A responsive, organised team player who can juggle multiple projects, priorities and deadlines successfully.
• Strong communication, reporting, writing and Excel skills.
• Willing and able to undertake international travel as required at short notice.
