QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in risk management or auditing (desirable).

SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, methodologies including Enterprise Risk Management and best practices.
  • Proficiency in auditing techniques and compliance assessments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Office and understanding of Microsoft 365 Tools (SharePoint, Lists, PowerAutomate, Power BI)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and responsibility.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

The purpose of the Risk Management Specialist is to support the organisation in deploying effective risk management techniques and ensuring risks are managed inline with the organisation’s risk appetite. The role will also support the delivery and reporting of the Integrated Audit Programme, working closely with our Internal Audit Partner and certification bodies. The role will provide guidance to the business and support the reporting requirements from weekly KPI’s to contribution to Board Committee packs.
The position is instrumental in identifying areas of concern, mitigating risks, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to standards.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Risk Register Oversight: Manage the maintenance and ongoing development of the CalMac Risk Register, ensuring it accurately reflects current risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Risk Management Strategy Development: Collaborate with risk owners across the business to develop and implement effective risk management strategies.
  • Audit and Compliance Checks: Perform compliance checks, audits, and site visits across the network, maintaining high standards of compliance and risk management.
  • Audit Programme Coordination: Facilitate the delivery of the integrated audit programme by coordinating with sponsors, auditors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring smooth and effective execution.
  • Internal Audit System Maintenance: Oversee the internal audit action reporting system and process, ensuring it functions effectively and efficiently.
  • Process Management: Support the management of department processes, ensuring they align with company expectations and involve relevant stakeholders during the addition, amendment, deletion, and review of owned processes.
  • Quality Assurance Support: Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in generating and distributing monthly, quarterly, and annual audit and assurance analysis, providing insightful data to inform decision-making. Support the delivery of quality-focused initiatives.
  • External Audit Collaboration: Support and collaborate with outsourced Internal Audit Partners, External Audit Partners and certification bodies, planning and executing audits in line with organisational requirements.
  • Investigations and Recommendations: Support investigations as required and monitor the implementation of recommendations to ensure timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Team Support: Actively support the HSQE team in achieving the company’s goals and objectives
