Role description: We are seeking a confident Project Risk Manager to join our Mobility business, with the ability to influence, guide, and add value across high-profile projects and programmes that deliver National Strategic Road Assets. In this client-facing role, you will work closely with colleagues, our client and their development partners to deliver best-in-class risk management services which are aligned with the clients own governance requirements and strategic objectives. The role requires physical presence at Arcadis or client offices and project site (likely Birmingham, Bristol or Cardiff) a minimum of once a week. Role accountabilities: * Deliver end-to-end risk management services across our clients Major Projects and Significant Renewals Directorates, ensuring alignment with their established risk frameworks and strategic goals. * Lead and facilitate hybrid and in-person risk workshops and reviews with multidisciplinary teams, proactively identifying, assessing, and managing risks and opportunities. * Conduct Quantitative Risk Analyses (QRA) including cost and schedule assessments using Safran Risk and riskHive, with a minimum of 2 years’ regular (weekly) hands-on experience. * Prepare periodic and ad hoc risk management reports providing key insights on risk exposures, contingency forecasts, and effectiveness of risk responses. * Act as a subject matter expert for risk management, supporting service capability development, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives. * Champion a culture of risk awareness by coaching and mentoring project teams and colleagues on risk tools, techniques, and strategic application. * Support business development activities by contributing to proposals, client engagement, and promotion of Arcadis’s risk management expertise. * Maintain effective communication and trusted relationships with client stakeholders and integrated project teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality risk management outcomes. * Ensure compliance with NEC4 ECC contracts and client-specific risk governance requirements. Qualifications & Experience: * Minimum 5 years’ experience in risk management on nationally significant infrastructure projects, with proven expertise delivering under NEC and/or NEC4 ECC contracts. * Relevant risk management qualification or Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution. * Proven experience working with national or local highways authorities, their development partners, or project controls/PMO functions. * Demonstrable expertise in conducting Quantitative Risk Analyses (QRA) covering cost and schedule, with proficiency in Safran Risk and riskHive software. * Strong client-facing skills, with experience managing stakeholder relationships and facilitating workshops. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, insightful reports and presentations. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). * Ability and willingness to travel to client offices or project sites (typically Birmingham and Bristol areas) approximately once a week. * Applicants must meet the minimum requirements of the UK Baseline Personnel Security Screening (BPSS). Responsibilities
The role involves delivering end-to-end risk management services for major projects, leading risk workshops to identify and assess risks and opportunities, and conducting Quantitative Risk Analyses using specified software. Responsibilities also include preparing risk reports, acting as a subject matter expert, and championing a culture of risk awareness through coaching.
