The Risk Specialist reports to the Risk and Compliance Senior Manager (LoD2), in accordance with EBA requirements concerning the split of the different lines of defense.
The Risk Specialist performs an execution role in measuring, monitoring, and controlling credit, compliance and privacy risks. They also assume the role of making credit decisions if a credit authority has been granted to them in cases above credit analyst level, which also includes the responsibility for analyzing credit data and financial statements to evaluate the risks associated with the counterparty’s creditworthiness, relying on the analyst’s issued opinion. If a credit decision is above their authority (limit, exclusion lists, PCRUs), they are responsible for initiating the appropriated process. The Risk Specialist also oversee Privacy and Compliance risk in relation to Privacy Assessments and GDPR compliance and Compliance Risks related to AML-CTF, Sanction and Embargo and ABC Framework.
Being a part of the second line of defense, they are also accountable for challenging and supporting the implementation of risk management measures by the business lines and support units to ensure that the processes and controls put in place by the first line of defense are well designed and effective.
