We’re looking for an exceptional Risks & Issues Manager to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Risks & Issues Manager, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

JOB DESCRIPTION

You will lead the identification, assessment, management, and reporting of risks and issues across the portfolio of programmes and projects within the Met Office. This role ensures that risk management practices are embedded and aligned with corporate governance, enabling informed decision-making and successful delivery of strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Significant experience in specialist risk and issues management roles in P3M portfolio environments of varying levels of maturity.
  • Excellent understanding and demonstrable proactive management of risk and issues, applying risk management methodologies (e.g., ISO 31000, PRINCE2, MSP, MoP).
  • Proven ability to provide necessary management information for decision-making and escalate when appropriate.
  • Adept at presenting insights and trends tailored to different stakeholder needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work well as a member of a team.

Responsibilities

YOUR KEY DUTIES:

  • Deliver the Portfolio aspects of the Met Office’s Enterprise Risk Management Policy and ensure alignment with Government and Met Office risk standards and policies
  • Advise and support the Portfolio of projects and programmes in identifying, assessing, and managing risks and issues.
  • Facilitate risk workshops and deliver training to embed proactive risk culture across the Portfolio.
  • Present insights and trends tailored to various audiences, including Portfolio leadership.
  • Promote best practice across the Portfolio through clear, engaging communication and collaboration.
