Responsibilities Patient Care Provide telephone and in person triage services to patients to assist providers in dealing with issues, concerns and problems related to MH symptoms, effects of medications, etc. Utilize critical thinking in making independent judgements about patient functioning, consulting with others as appropriate. Maintain contact with other treatment team members, inside and outside the Mental Health Center to ensure effective coordination of care and treatment services. Contact pharmacies, other provider offices, hospitals, community agencies, etc. to ensure that medication orders are clear and coordination of treatment services occurs. Review lab work ordered on patients, consult with MHC and other providers and follow through with orders/instructions. Take vitals on patients as requested. Room patients for telehealth providers when CMA staff are unavailable. Be responsive to front desk staff and other clinical staff if requested to meet with patients to assess functioning, discuss medication, provide, education, take vitals, etc. consulting with treatment team members after. Documentation Document all face to face contacts with patients in the Center’s Electronic Medical Record. Complete medical orders from providers, following through in ordering labs, medications, referrals, etc. Review all emails and voicemails daily to ensure that patients are contacted within 24 hours of leaving a message. Complete Kronos time entry daily. Professional Development Complete nursing education to maintain licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa. Complete all required training including, but not limited to, Net Learning modules, BLS, Mandatory Reporter training as required by law and Unity Point. Focus on professional development opportunities that improve your knowledge and skills in the mental Health field. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Completion of a program leading to the awarding of a Registered Nurse license in the State of Iowa. One-three years’ experience in the field of mental health nursing. Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa. Knowledge of Malignant Hyperthermia (HP) medications, purpose, side effects. Ability to complete basic nursing assessment, e.g. vitals, physical assessments, etc. Ability to connect/relate to MH patients who may be difficult to deal with. Complete nursing education to maintain licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa. Complete all required training including but not limited to NetLearning modules, BLS, Mandatory Reporter training as required by law and UnityPoint. Focus on professional development opportunities that improve knowledge and skills in the mental health field.Preferred: Mental health certification as a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
