Department Overview A Registered Nurse working in the Center for Women’s Health (CWH) is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and has the primary responsibility for, and provides, direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients. This includes representing the practice both in person and on the telephone, other OHSU departments, and non-OHSU facilities. Function/Duties of Position The Registered Nurse assesses patient and family needs, develops a plan of care, implements, and evaluates the care delivered. The Registered Nurse is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to service excellence. The divisions within CWH that this nurse may work in include, but are not limited to, Perinatology, Generalist OBGYN, midwifery, and fetal monitoring unit. Procedures completed include, but are not limited to, IV infusions (medication or hydration), medication administration, in-person patient education, post-partum visits, post-operative wound assessment and care, non-stress tests (NST), limited third trimester ultrasound. • Ability to maintain a smooth operation of the entire practice, using problem-solving and decision-making combined with sound clinical judgments. • Assists provider with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and treatments as needed in the clinic. • Ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations. Understands the procedures for medical emergencies, as well as other disaster situations. • Excellent communication skills • Excellent organizational skills • Excellent leadership skills Required Qualifications 2-years current experience in obstetrics & gynecology 2- year experience in fetal monitoring 1-year phone triage experience 1-year experience in ambulatory medicine 1-year experience starting and maintaining IVs for Hydration/Blood Transfusions/Medication Infusions BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date. ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date. Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse LicenseWashington license or apply for Washington RN License by the end of the orientation period BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation Preferred Qualifications • 2-years current experience in obstetrics & gynecology • 2-years phone triage experience • 2-years’ experience in ambulatory medicine • 2 years’ experience starting and maintaining IVs for Hydration/Blood Transfusions/Medication Infusions • Certification in limited third trimester ultrasound, or will obtain within 3 months of hire • Experience using EPIC Additional Details Length of Orientation – Experienced Nurse External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.
