Job Summary The RN – Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and administrative leadership for a hospital unit, supporting patient care delivery and overseeing nursing staff performance. This position works in collaboration with the unit director to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include supervision of staff, shift coordination, support for clinical practice, and facilitation of operational initiatives, staffing, and patient flow. Essential Functions Provides clinical leadership and supervision for RN, LPN, NA, and unit support staff. Assists with patient care, nursing assessments, and treatment planning using the nursing process. Coordinates nursing activities and resource utilization to achieve unit goals. Ensures quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in daily operations. Participates in patient education, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary care coordination. Supports staff development through mentoring, training, and education. Assists with hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Contributes to budgeting, staffing plans, and resource management. Participates in audits, performance improvement initiatives, and policy development. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to delegate, evaluate, and guide staff performance. Ability to multitask and respond effectively in high-stress clinical environments. Proficiency in clinical documentation and hospital systems. Education Postsecondary certificate, diploma, or program graduation from an accredited school of nursing. (Required) Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related field. (Preferred) Licenses/Certifications Registered Nurse (RN) – State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the state of practice. (Required upon hire) Basic Life Support (BCLS). (Required upon hire or within facility-specified timeframe) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or NIH Stroke Scale certification. (May be required – facility specific; upon hire or within facility-specified timeframe) Experience Two (2) or more years of clinical experience in acute care nursing. (Required) Prior experience in a charge nurse or supervisory role. (Preferred)
