Responsibilities Assesses and monitors total physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients of all ages. With guidance from/collaboration with other health team members, develops and maintains with the patient/significant other, an individualized, professional approach to patient care reflective of changing needs/goals as determined by evaluating the patient/significant other response. Provides nursing care in accordance with nursing standards. Assesses and plans for discharge needs, evaluates patients and significant others educational needs and initiates and implements appropriate teaching or makes appropriate referrals. Documents nursing care consistent with documentation guidelines. Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Qualifications Education: Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required. Required to obtain 4 hours of annual stroke education. Bachelors in Nursing preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): Current RN Licensure in state of Iowa or applicable compact state. Must be licensed in state of residence. Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) Completion of hospital-approved Critical Care course within 18 months of employment. Experience: ED or Critical Care experience preferred. One year of acute care nursing experience acceptable.
