Description
Assists surgeons working interdependently and under their direction. Functions include, but are not limited to: Preoperative skin preparation, positioning the patient, draping the patient, providing homeostasis, providing exposure, properly handling tissue, properly using instruments, suturing, cleaning surgical area and application of dressings, and other duties as requested by the surgeon that fall within the scope of licensure. RNFA under physician supervision performs the following functions. Performs preoperative patient assessments, performs discharge summary dictation and is the contact point among in-house and community referral physicians, patients and their family members, and surgeons. Performs surgical preparatory procedures (eg foley catheter insertion). Assists in transporting the patient postoperatively, communicates information to the post anesthesia care unit. (PACU) Education Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required Other Graduate of accredited school of Nursing; successful completion of additional educational preparation specific to the role of the RNFA including a supervised clinical component. Required Experience Licenses Certified Nurse Operating Room Required PA Registered Nurse License Required Basic Life Support Required
