As an L&D RN at NARMC, you’ll use strong assessment skills and hands-on labor support from triage through postpartum, keeping moms and babies safe. Job Summary Provide bedside nursing care for obstetric patients and newborns across triage, labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum. You’ll interpret fetal monitoring, support vaginal and cesarean births, give medicines, document clearly, and partner with the care team to keep patients safe and informed. Key Responsibilities Triage & Assessment: Admit/assess OB patients; update care plans; keep providers informed. Labor & Delivery: Monitor EFM; recognize reassuring/non-reassuring patterns and intervene; support physiologic labor and epidurals; assist/circulate for vaginal and cesarean births. Medications & IVs: Start IVs; administer/monitor oxytocin and other ordered meds per protocol; document responses. Postpartum & Education: Manage routine/complicated recovery; watch for hemorrhage, infection, and hypertension; teach safe newborn care and feeding (breast and bottle). Newborn Care: Perform initial checks; support temperature, breathing, and glucose stability; escalate concerns early. Teamwork & Safety: Give clear SBAR handoffs; follow Baby-Friendly practices; maintain infection prevention and accurate EHR documentation.
