SUMMARY

The GI Care for Kid’s staff nurse is expected to provide excellent nursing care in Pre-op/ Post-op functions and actively participate in and contribute to the daily operation of the Endoscopy Center. The staff nurse must be able to communicate effectively and demonstrate empathy toward patient and their family when assessing and attending to patient’s needs

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE - KSAS - OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • BLS and PALS certification required
  • Active License in state of Georgia
  • Preferred Qualifications: Registered Nurse with 2 or more years of Pediatric Pre-op and PACU experience, Excellent IV skills

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a high standard of nursing care to all patients in the Endoscopy Center
  • Work within the Policy and Procedures
  • Answer questions and address concerns of patient and family members while protecting the patient’s right to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Review and maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation according to HIPAA guidelines to ensure confidentiality of records at all times.
  • Follow policy and procedures regarding accurate record, storage, and administration of medicine.
  • Work with minimal supervision in the admission and recovery of patients
  • Participate in the investigation, resolution and follow up of any formal complaints
  • Ensure safe discharge of all patients from the Endoscopy Center
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment in accordance with established standards and regulations
  • Able to safely administer IVs and monitor blood glucose levels
  • Obtain health history via phone prior to patients’ appointment.
  • Follow up with family member within 2 business days post procedure to ensure no post procedure complications
  • Monitor patients for a minimum of 30 minutes post procedure
  • Administer PO and IV meds pre- and post-procedure
  • Deliver oxygen therapy via nasal canula as appropriate for patient’s needs, maintain patient’s airway throughout recovery
  • Be able to identify patients not appropriate for the Endoscopy Center
  • Ability to identify when a patient in the Endoscopy Center has not followed proper prep protocol and needs to be delayed or rescheduled
  • Keep patients and families informed throughout the duration of their visit
  • Ability to explain procedures and provide instructions to ensure patient cooperation and minimize discomfort. Provide emotional and physical support to the patients before during and after procedure.
  • Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level.
  • Accept personal responsibility and dedicated to professional growth and continuous learning. This includes CPR and PALS and being knowledgeable in all aspects of the Endoscopy Center
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.
