Description Position Summary: The PACU Nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect provision of professional nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical or procedural interventions. The PACU Nurse provides continuous assessment, monitoring, and documentation of patient status while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and timely recovery. Care is delivered using the nursing process within the perioperative and outpatient environment. Position Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. RN/LPN with an active license in Georgia. Must hold BCLS & ACLS Certification. Proficiency in IV placement and blood draws. Ability to work independently with detail and accuracy. Must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations Maintains patient documentation. Pre-operative patient education/teaching. Pre/Post-Procedure Phone Calls. Essential Job Functions: Observes facility policies, procedures, and processes Receives patients from the operating/procedure room and assumes responsibility for post - anesthesia care Performs ongoing post-operative assessments, including airway patency, vital signs, pain level, level of consciousness, and surgical site evaluation Monitors patients for anesthesia-related complications and initiates appropriate nursing interventions Administers medications as ordered by the physician or anesthesia provider Provides pain management, nausea control, and comfort measures Accurately documents all assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses in the medical record Communicates patient status, concerns, or changes in condition to the physician and anesthesia provider in a timely manner Ensures patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout the recovery process Educates patients and families on post-operative care, medications, activity restrictions, and discharge instructions Completes discharge criteria and ensures all required documentation and signatures are obtained prior to discharge Performs post-procedure follow-up instructions and reinforces teaching as needed Maintains a clean, safe, and organized recovery area Assists with patient flow and ensures smooth transition from PACU to discharge Interacts professionally with physicians, patients, families, and coworkers Maintains confidentiality of patient, physician, and center-related information Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with the healthcare team Utilizes initiative, maintains productivity, and supports efficient patient throughput Performs all other assigned job duties as directed by the Director of Nursing, Administrator, or Providers Benefits for FTE: Medical, Dental, Vision, STD Life Insurance PTO and Paid Holidays Requirements Position Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
