Job Category: Patient Facing - Clinical GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: United Digestive’s (UD) RN-Manometry Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing esophageal and anorectal manometry, and pH studies. The role includes close collaboration with interpreting physicians, comprehensive patient education, and critical administrative support (scheduling, supply management, documentation, equipment reprocessing, and quality initiatives). Reports To: Practice Manager RESPONSIBILIITES: Duties include but are not limited to: Clinical Care & Testing Perform esophageal manometry and anorectal manometry according to established protocols. Prepare patients by providing clear explanations, assessing readiness, and ensuring safety throughout the procedure. Accurately prepare and calibrate equipment prior to each procedure; verify proper operation and troubleshoot issues with equipment and software. Collect, document and upload high quality motility data for physician interpretation. Work closely with physicians to ensure timely review and interpretation of test results. Obtain and record vital signs; assist with patient intake, preparation, and discharge as needed. Safety, Quality & Compliance Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention, safety, and documentation requirements. Maintain equipment logs and reprocessing records; contact technical support when issues arise. Assist the Medical Director in establishing, monitoring, and improving quality standards for the manometry program. Collaborate with leadership and the department to develop, review, and implement manometry policies and procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, follow protocols, and escalate appropriately during emergent situations. Workflow, Documentation & Collaboration Schedule manometry procedures, coordinate patient flow and room turnover. Document care and testing in the electronic medical record (EMR), including accessing charts, scanning, and accurate data entry. Function as a liaison among patients/families, staff, physicians, referring offices, and other centers. Protect confidential and privileged information; promote and support patient- and family-centered care. Maintain appropriate inventory levels; restock rooms and assist with ordering to support cost containment. Perform any other duties and/or special projects as assigned EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Required High School Diploma or GED; graduate of an accredited school of nursing Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice, and current BLS/CPR certification 3–5 years nursing experience with strong clinical assessment and patient care abilities; competent with pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care Must be computer literate and able to operate modern office systems, healthcare systems and multiple Microsoft Office applications General proficiency with EMR systems and workflows Preferred Prior experience in manometry and/or GI is preferred ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: RN-Manometry Nurse must have or be able to: Possesses the ability to deal with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians with courtesy and respect Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians through the telephone, email, and in-person; has strong critical thinking and follow-up questioning skills Work under pressure; assess, respond, and communicate issues respectfully, in a timely manner Excellent listening skills; respectful and empathetic approach; builds patient rapport and teamwork Thorough attention to detail, accurate data entry, and care documentation Investigates issues, addresses barriers, and works independently to meet objectives Interpret and apply clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures Reliable, punctual and accountable PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS Ability to work under stress. Moderate periods of sitting and computer use. Good visual acuity. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel sensation to discern temperature, texture, size, and shape. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time, lifting, and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds. Travel as business needs dictate.
