POSITION SUMMARY: Provides clinical consultation and support to staff and patients regarding the management of complex wounds, pressure ulcers, ostomies, fistulas, and incontinence. Responsibilities include ensuring evidence-based practice for skin integrity, wound management and incontinence care. Manages and monitors wound care programs to ensure quality patient outcomes. Collaborates with the health care team to develop effective patient education. Develops and implements educational programs for patients, staff and other health care providers.   Qualifications EDUCATON: Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.   CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current NM nursing license and BLS issued through American Heart Association. Specialty certification in wound care awarded by a nationally accredited certifying body (e.g., CWCN, CWON, or CWOCN) preferred.   SKILLS: Excellent oral/written communications skills. Ability to assess, plan, coordinate, and facilitate educational programs. Ability to develop interdisciplinary collaboration. Excellent teaching and problem-solving skills. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in Spanish preferred.   EXPERIENCE: Two years of acute care experience. Experience managing complex wounds and ostomies required.   NATURE OF SUPERVISION: Responsible to: Director of Wound Care, Clinical Director of Wound Care, and Director of Patient Care for nursing supervision.   ENVIRONMENT: -Bloodborne pathogens -- B Multiple simultaneous activities around patient care and staff development. Exposure to infectious diseases and x-rays. Subject to varying, unpredictable situations.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to handle emergency/crisis situations, prolonged or considerable standing and walking. Has knowledge of and uses good body mechanics. Occasionally lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients or equipment. Hearing and visual acuity within normal limits. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required. Operates various hospital equipment, machines and instrumentations, computer, telephone, beeper.
