The Nursing Home is seeking a Unit Manager/Supervisor to manage nursing services on assigned units. Flexible schedule.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Education: Completion of a formal education program in Nursing
  2. License/Certification: Valid NYS RN License, CPR certified
  3. Equipment/Computer Software: Basic computer/ EMR software
  4. Physical/Mental Demands: Walk long distances, climb stairs, run in an emergency and remain on her / his feet for long durations of time. Bend, squat, push, pull, reach, stretch and lift up to 50lbs. Speak, read and understand English. Hear the spoken word. Demonstrate hand/eye dexterity for operating ADL and medically complex equipment, e.g. oxygen concentrator, I.V. equipment, parenteral feeding equipment, peritoneal dialysis equipment, ventilator equipment, etc.
  5. Multilingual or experience working with Asian community a plus but not require

Responsibilities
  1. Supervises RNs, LPNs and Nursing Assistants including orientation of new employees and job performance review for staff.
  2. Supervises nursing treatment and personal care services to nursing home residents within the scope of practice for RNs, including assessment, treatment and prevention of Pressure Ulcers, Monitoring Food & Liquid Input/Output, Providing Hygiene, Preparing Injections/Enemas, Taking Vital Signs, Feeding, Applying Dressings & Bandages, Catheter and Ostomy Management, Orthotics.
  3. Performs and documents medication administration including medication pass, ordering, controlled substance reconciliation, refill and storage.
  4. Schedules diagnostic testing as ordered, reports laboratory/diagnostic test results to Physician per facility policy
  5. Assures completion of resident care plans
  6. Manages unit staff assignments
  7. Collects samples for testing and perform routine laboratory tests on samples as ordered.
  8. Provides orientation and assists new personnel in nursing care techniques, acting as preceptor to new employees.
  9. Monitors IV therapy, performs prescribed treatments and procedures and dispenses medications as per order and facilities policies.
  10. Investigates, reports and records all accidents of patients.
  11. Operates or supervises the operation of specialized equipment assigned to unit and provides assistance and guidance to nursing team as required.
  12. Assure infection control standards such as universal precautions, contract precautions, droplet precaution and hand washing protocols are used.
  13. Prevent resident elopement and injury through identification of those at risk for wandering and implementation of measures to promote their safety such as wander guard alarms and supervision.
  14. Ensures that report is given to on-coming nurse on conditions of patient/residents and/or any unusual problems and action taken.
  15. Follows code of conduct and ensures resident privacy and is compliant with HIPAA.
  16. Will perform other related duties as assigned.
