Description SUMMARY OF POSITION: The RN Program Monitor reports to the Director of Nursing. This RN Program Monitor will be responsible for auditing Venture’s residential programs for MAP compliance (scheduled and as needed, providing nursing training in programs (scheduled and as needed), and provide direct oversight to Venture’s two medical model residential programs in conjunction with residential management, including oversight of LPN nursing staff. The RN Program Monitor must be able to work a flexible schedule adapted to meet the needs of the agency. This position is a salary exempt position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: MEDICAL MODEL OVERSIGHT (APPROXIMATELY 10 HOURS PER WEEK) · Attend staff meetings to discuss individuals in the homes and to provide medical training as needed. · Review and collate medical information through encounter forms, PE and case studies provided by the Residential House Managers · Attend clinical appointments with individuals in medical model programs, determined by acuity in conjunction with the DON · Attend meetings with DDS that involve individuals on caseload, determined by acuity in conjunction with the DON · Assist in discharge instructions, treatments or medication changes to the Residential House Manager and all staff. · Work with the Residential House Manager and Residential Program Director to supervise LPNs, providing performance coaching as needed · Monitor quality and completion of nursing notes · LPN schedules to be created in conjunction with DON · On-call duties required for staffing emergencies · May be required to fill vacant LPN shifts in an emergency MAP COMPLIANCE AND TRAINING (APPROXIMATELY 30 HOURS PER WEEK) · Perform comprehensive audits of the medication administration at each of Venture’s residential programs · Audits will be conducted on a bi-annual basis · Ad hoc audits may be assigned by DON to address identified/emergent compliance issues · Provide in-program medical training to program staff · Training will be conducted on an annual basis · Training will be conducted as needed to meet the emergent and/or chronic medical needs of people receiving supports · Will become certified to teach MAP to program staff and maintain certification by teaching at least one class per year and remaining current on assigned MAP trainer learning. · Will work in conjunction with the Director of Data Management and Director of Nursing to design and implement an automated MAP auditing system to increase efficacy and speed of audits. · Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Ensure programs maintain the standards outlined in the Department of Developmental Services mission statement, the Survey and Certification Tool, as well as requirements of Performance Based Objectives. · Implement the agency mission through service delivery, staff development, and resource acquisition. · Provide recommendations to your supervisor regarding ways to improve the current systems. · Observe all Agency policies and procedures. · Accept responsibility and accountability as part of the position. · General understanding of MAP PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: · Complete the Agency Nursing Orientation. · Handle all projects with a positive attitude. · Ability to establish rapport with the disabled population, their families, co-workers and service providers. · Organized, dependable and even temperament; good telephone manner. · Effective verbal and written communication skills. · Effective computer skills. · Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of employees. · Must be able to bend, lift, stoop, reach and file. · Able to travel to agency programs (up to 90 miles from agency administrative offices) on a regular basis. Requirements MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS: · Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. · At least one year of full-time working experience as an RN. · Must be 21+ years old and have a valid driver’s license. Daily use of a car on site and be available by telephone for daily contact is also required. · Excellent knowledge of MAP and DDS regulations preferred
