Honda Research Institute USA (HRI-US) in San Jose, California, is looking for a passionate and self-motivated Robotics Software Engineer to join our Robotics Division. Through the creation of avatars and autonomous intelligent entities, Honda’s robotics program is positioning robots to work alongside humans in collaborative, scalable networks aimed at extending human capabilities. Robotics Software Engineer will work closely with robotics research scientists and engineers of different teams and will develop and implement quality software solutions for our robotic systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS or Ph.D. in computer science, robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field with 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in robotics, sensor fusion, and machine learning.
  • Experience with Robotics simulation platforms: Isaac Sim, Omniverse, Unreal Engine, etc.
  • Strong track record of quality software development and agile development methodologies.
  • Proficient in various programming languages and frameworks such as Python, C++, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Strong experience developing with ROS 1/2.
  • Self-motivated to advance the project and deliver on time.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including development and delivery of presentations, papers, and technical documents.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with the development of software for real-world robotic manipulation.

  • As a key software member of the group, you will be responsible to develop, optimize, test, and maintain algorithms and software implementations related to robotic manipulation, physical interaction, and physical AI.
  • Deliver high-quality software that works across platforms and simulation.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team in a start-up-like business unit.
  • Deliver results in accordance with the project timelines.
  • Collaborate with our teams of scientists and engineers in Honda’s regional and global R&D offices, as well as with our partners in academia and industry.
