JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Rodent Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Cambridge, MA.
As the Rodent Veterinary Technician/Assistant, you will monitor daily animal health and welfare while performing daily treatments and clinical observations to maintain quality and health of research animals.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Record animal health concerns per SOP and/or specified protocols.
  • Complete veterinary services activities inclusive of performing daily treatments; environmental and social housing assessment and provisions.
  • Recordkeeping of clinical observation and treatment with necessary communications with veterinary, husbandry, and lab staff.
  • Regular clinical observation review and follow-up with veterinarian and response to emergency cases.
  • Performing quarterly health monitoring sampling and collecting and sending out diagnostic samples.
  • Maintaining all necessary animal health and diagnostic records.
Responsibilities

TO QUALIFY FOR THIS ROLE, CANDIDATES MUST HAVE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING COMBINATIONS OF EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S./B.A. degree in Biological Sciences or related field plus 2 years of previous laboratory animal research experience in husbandry.
  • Associate’s degree in veterinary technology or equivalent college level program plus 3 years of previous laboratory animal research in husbandry.
  • High School Diploma and at least 4 years of previous laboratory animal research experience in husbandry.

Certification/Licensure:

  • AALAS certification or eligibility at the Laboratory Animal Technician level (LAT) is preferred.
