POSITION OVERVIEW:

SCV Waste Solutions is seeking a reliable and experienced Roll-Off Truck Driver – Class 1 to join our growing team based out of our Salmon Arm location. The Roll Off Driver will be responsible for operating roll off truck and trailer units to collect refuse and recycling within the local region, with openness to operate our septic truck when needed considered an asset. Candidates must have a clean driving record, a strong understanding of safe vehicle operation, and the ability to navigate effectively, complete daily logbooks, and perform thorough pre- and post-trip inspections. Our drivers are also expected to communicate professionally with team members and the public while representing SCV Waste Solutions with integrity and a commitment to safety and service in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Availability to work a Tuesday to Saturday schedule as part of a 7-day operational team.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs consistently, with the ability to push, pull, bend, and climb as needed.
  • Proven experience driving large vehicles and hauling trailers with demonstrated competency.
  • Ability to work independently and remain focused without supervision.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage responsibilities effectively.
  • Commitment to providing safe, prompt, and courteous customer service.
  • Positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to assist with equipment maintenance is an asset.
  • Experience in collections and material handling is considered an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Operate roll-off truck and trailer units to safely and efficiently collect refuse and recycling from designated locations within the local region.
  • Perform septic tank pump-outs as needed using the company’s septic truck (training provided if necessary).
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure roadworthiness and report any issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date driver logs and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Navigate routes efficiently using maps or GPS, ensuring timely service and minimal downtime.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with dispatch, team members, and the public.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and operational procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Represent SCV Waste Solutions with a positive attitude and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Assist with basic maintenance and cleanliness of assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
