Roller Operator

DeFord Contracting Inc. is looking for an experienced and hardworking Roller Operator for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years’ experience operating Roller
  • 3+ years’ experience in Road construction/Paving - experience working in civil construction is considered an asset
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License; Airbrake (Q) Endorsement preferred
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
  • Knowledge of Paving materials, paving processes, and industry requirements
  • Knowledge of Rollers and other heavy equipment

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate roller equipment to compact asphalt in successive, overlapping passes.
  • Use knowledge of material behavior under varying temperature conditions to determine optimal speed and direction of the roller.
  • Operate the Roller with precision to achieve final compaction and a smooth, uniform surface.
  • Identify and eliminate imperfections in the asphalt surface using the finish roller.
  • Maneuver equipment effectively in tight or confined areas without compromising safety or quality.
  • Conduct daily maintenance and pre-operational safety checks on roller equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with other crew members and follow instructions from the paving foreman.
