POSITION SUMMARY:

An opportunity has arisen for a Rooms Division Manager at the wonderful sea front location of the Marine Hotel. We are passionate about our people, both staff and customers. We have recently been awarded BCORP status which means we are about people, place and profit and our ethos reflects this.
The Room’s Division Manager is the face of the hotel, responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences from arrival to departure. This role oversees all front-facing departments, ensuring seamless operations, high service standards, and a welcoming atmosphere.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 year’s experience in a similar front office role.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency in hotel management software
  • Minimum 2 year’s experience of yield management and setting room rates.
  • Knowledge of local attractions and services is a plus

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guest Experience
  • Ensure every guest receives a warm welcome and personalized service
  • Handle guest complaints and feedback with professionalism and empathy
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and implement improvements
  • Team Leadership
  • Recruit, train, and supervise front office, housekeeping, and night staff
  • Set departmental goals, schedules, and performance standards
  • Foster a positive team culture and encourage continuous development
  • Operations Management
  • Oversee daily operations of reception, concierge, and public areas
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Coordinate with other departments to maintain service consistency
  • Revenue & Sales
  • Maximize room occupancy and implement upselling strategies
  • Monitor rate parity and competitor pricing
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to drive bookings
  • Administration
  • Manage budgets, inventory, and ordering of supplies
  • Prepare daily reports, banking, and end-of-day reconciliations
  • Maintain systems and ensure accurate guest records

OCCASIONAL DUTIES

  • Assist in other departments during emergencies or as deemed necessary by the General Manager. Carry out other duties / tasks outside normal routines but within the overall scope of the job.
