Job Summary This position is responsible for cleaning the facilities, including but not limited to high touch surfaces, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy in county buildings, as well as vacuuming and buffing floors, shampooing carpets, emptying trash receptacles, replacing the lining of trash cans and fogging buildings. This team member also helps manage the outdoor landscaping, as well as the care and maintenance of the walking tracks, pavilions, dog park, playgrounds, and football field. Minor facility repairs and maintenance are also required as well as the care and maintenance of the new Adventure Acres Park/Splash Pad. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Facility Cleaning and Maintenance * Clean and disinfect buildings, bathrooms, and high-touch areas using appropriate chemicals * Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and window cleaning * Shampoo carpets, buff floors, empty trash receptacles, and replace liners * Assist with moving heavy furniture and setting up event spaces (e.g., laying dance floors) * Fog buildings as required for sanitation purposes * Lock and unlock facilities for events during and after business hours Groundskeeping and Outdoor Maintenance * Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of outdoor areas including: * Pressure washing buildings, walkways, and parking areas * Landscaping tasks such as mulching, planting, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, and watering * Pest control including application of pesticides * Snow and ice removal from walkways and parking areas * Trash and litter control on facility grounds * Upkeep of recreation areas including walking tracks, playgrounds, sports fields, and the splash pad * Perform minor facility repairs and routine maintenance using hand tools, power tools, and motorized equipment Other Duties * Complete additional tasks as assigned by management, sometimes with limited notice Education and Experience * High School Diploma or GED required * Must be at least 18 years old * Must successfully pass a criminal background check and periodic/random drug screenings Skills and Abilities * Work independently and follow safety procedures and policies * Ability to follow detailed procedures and guidelines * Communicate professionally and courteously with the public * Demonstrate good time management and problem-solving abilities Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations * Proof of auto insurance * Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) * Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or the ability to attain certification within three months PHYSICAL DEMANDS These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Custodial/Maintenance job. Hearing and speech is necessary to communicate with customers and co-workers in person, by telephone and in person. Good vision is required for all functions. This position must be able to lift 35 pounds frequently. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is usually exposed to a noise level that is moderate to loud. Work is performed in a variety of buildings, requiring travel between cleaning assignments by foot or car. Half of the tasks are performed indoors with heating and air conditioning and the other half of the work is performed outdoors and in seasonally extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, as well as rain and other environmental elements, and weather conditions normal to this region. Physical hazards include travel, dangerous equipment, noise and vibration, exposure to fumes, gases, chemicals, dust, and dirt. The employee should wear comfortable and durable clothing. The employee will be expected to wear proper protective equipment such as, but not limited to, foot support and protection, protective eyewear, and gloves.
