Position Overview
This position works in the Labour Relations department and is responsible for the maintenance of BCNU rotations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receives, processes and approves all extended work day rotations for the BCNU membership.
  • Acts as a resource to LROs to analyze and ensure that proposed rotations promote work life balance, comply with BCNU collective agreements and applicable labour laws.
  • Initiates correspondence and follow up when rotations conflict with collective agreement language.
  • Ensures compliance of extended workday rotations with the collective agreement, the completion of an overtime waiver, and signed unit specific MOA for final approval of all extended hour workday rotation prior to implementation.
  • Refers labour relations matters including line selection processes and other issues to labour relations officers, where necessary.
  • Uploads all approved extended workday rotations and associated documentation to internal BCNU databases.
  • Prepare regular reports for the coordinator regarding the number of requests from the membership for rotations, scheduling trends, compliance issues, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST HAVE:

  1. A diploma or certificate in Business Administration or Applied Business Technology and three years of experience in an office environment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  2. Strong technical skills and the ability to learn new software and digital applications as they emerge. Demonstrated ability to use MS Office applications at an advanced level and accurately enter data into applicable databases including UnionWare. Familiarity with database operations/management is required.
  3. Comprehensive and current knowledge of BCNU’s general objectives, structure, and staff responsibilities in order to effectively respond to data and statistical requirements.
  4. A working knowledge of the BCNU collective agreement/s.
  5. Good judgement and an interest in investigating and solving challenging problems.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  7. Ability to process email and research information from various sources.
  8. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Completes work in a timely manner and monitors own work to ensure quality.
  9. Knowledge and understanding of database structure.
  10. Ability to format, filter, and index information.
