ECONOMY LINEN AND TOWEL SERVICE, INC.   ROUTE SALES REPRESENTATIVE/UTILITY DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION   DEPARTMENT: Customer Service   POSITION: Route Sales Representative/Utility Driver   REPORTS TO: DISTRICT MANAGER   GENERAL DESCRIPTION   Responsible for providing award winning customer service, building relationships with customers that creates an environment for an easy renewal, and growing their route business.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   1. Conducts daily Pre-Route and Post Route Truck Inspections. 2. Drives safely and follows safety policies and procedures.  3. Interacts professionally with customers. 4. Generates a minimum sales average of $10 per week. 5. Obtains at least one customer referral per week. 6. Ensures adequate levels of products per the customer contract. 7. Delivers clean linen. 8. Picks up soiled linen.  9. Loads and unloads carts and trucks. 10. Operates handheld computer. 11. Collects payments when necessary. 12. Keeps records/logs/and maintains paperwork. 13. Tags all soiled linen bags. 14. Settling out all route paperwork at the end of the day.  15. Wears protective apparel when necessary. 16.  Maintains good housekeeping in their vehicle. 17.  Maintains a good attendance record within policy. 18. Performs other duties as assigned.   JOB FUNCTIONS:               Essential:  Ability to read and write at a twelfth grade level; good reasoning skills, strong verbal and social communication skills, basic computer skills, ability to push 600-pound carts; ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds; ability to bend; ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to work in extreme temperatures (cold and heat) with seasonal changes in weather, ability to stand, ability to climb stairs frequently, ability to drive safely, maintain valid driver’s license, maintain Commercial Drivers License (if applicable); good driving record; and must be insurable.
Responsibilities
The Route Sales Representative is responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing linen deliveries and pickups, and growing route business. They must also maintain accurate records, operate handheld computers, and ensure safety standards are met during daily operations.
