Route Manager Department: Buffalo Admin 310993 Employment Type: Full Time Location: Buffalo Reporting To: Erin Kenney Compensation: $61,000 / year Description As a Route Manager, you’ll lead a team of Field Merchandisers to ensure customers receive the highest quality breakroom solutions and service. You’ll oversee daily route operations, including scheduling, product management, pricing, and equipment maintenance, while upholding company standards in the field. Regular account visits and audits help maintain quality and strengthen customer relationships. You’ll coach and develop your team, foster a positive, inclusive work environment, and collaborate with Client Relations Managers, General Managers, and Scheduling to keep operations running efficiently and customers satisfied. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Conduct regular account inspections, machine audits, and quarterly one-on-one check-ins with Field Merchandisers to ensure adherence to company standards. Oversee daily operations of route personnel, holding teams accountable for accurate product management, equipment maintenance, and customer service standards. Ensure proper product rotation (FIFO), removal of expired items, and accurate price adjustments in the field. Provide coaching, training, and performance management for Field Merchandisers, including hiring, disciplinary action, and terminations. Verify completion and accuracy of scheduled routes, product requests, and daily data entries in Seed. Collaborate with other supervisors and departments to coordinate operational activities and drive efficiency, profitability, and growth. Ensure service calls are created and dispatched for equipment issues and that all equipment is maintained in clean, working condition. Maintain compliance with safety policies, proper food handling, and fleet maintenance standards. Support company culture by fostering a positive, productive work environment and assisting in initiatives such as pricing rollouts and machine installations. Identify and communicate any account or operational concerns that may impact client satisfaction or retention. Perform other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Experience in a route-based or field operations business. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and business correspondence. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 or related software preferred. Confident in presenting information and responding to questions from managers, clients, and customers. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift and push up to 50 pounds. Ability to operate a hand truck and perform frequent bending, reaching, and walking. Full range of motion in upper and lower extremities. Typical hours are between 5:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. In branches with two Route Supervisors, one typically works 5:00 AM–2:00 PM and the other 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Occasional schedule changes or weekend coverage may be required for process implementations or PTO coverage.
