About the Role Routesetters are responsible for bringing Bouldering Project’s vision of a best-in-class climbing experience to life. The role demands creativity, collaboration, professionalism, and a strong passion for climbing. This role may be filled as part-time or full-time, depending on applicant experience and availability. Routesetters may also pursue additional hours in other departments if desired. What You’ll Do Job duties may include, but are not limited to: Set and forerun 3–6 boulder problems per setting day, depending on level and experience Contribute to team forerunning and collaborative setting feedback sessions Support wall maintenance and assist in volume refinishing or padding tasks Maintain a clean, safe, and organized setting space and tools Execute tasks assigned by the Head Setter and maintain strong professional relationships with staff and team members Interact with guests and positively represent Bouldering Project in the community Collect and apply community feedback to improve the climbing product Uphold quality, safety, and inclusivity standards in all route design and execution Demonstrate respect for BP’s Climbing Experience and People Guiding Principles Participate in community engagement through events and interactions Aid in hold and equipment care, including cleaning, inspection, and replacement Travel occasionally to support special events at other locations (as applicable) Other duties as assigned Requirements What You’ll Bring Required Qualifications 3+ years of climbing experience 2+ years of commercial setting experience Ability to climb V6 in a variety of styles comfortably Strong teamwork, communication, and feedback skills Passion for climbing and building inclusive communities Ability to move 50 lbs on soft flooring and work on ladders or at height Preferred Qualifications Experience setting circuits and/or for events Willingness to assist other gym departments and evolve within the organization Desire for personal development and a growth mindset We know not everyone will meet 100% of the qualifications—if this role excites you, we encourage you to apply.
