JOB SUMMARY

40 Commando Royal Marines are looking for a talented, highly competent and self-motivated Team Leader to fill the role of Site Facilities Team Leader at Norton Manor Camp (NMC), Taunton. This 58-acre site, covering Grade II listed buildings, lakes and woodlands, is a vital operational hub for the UK Commando Forces and Defence.
An expanding site, NMC projects one of only two Very High Readiness UK forces across the globe as the ‘Force of Choice’ for contingency operations. Well-run facilities and assured ‘Homebank’ compliance is key in offering Defence this choice. It enables our Royal Marines to plan, deliver and execute exercises and operations within the UK and Globally. This role is pivotal in enabling this activity.
As such the role oversees the day-to-day management, maintenance and compliance of a range of Residential and Technical accommodation as well as Offices, Stores and Security structures. The role also encompasses all Soft Facilities Management (SFM) alongside our brilliant Industry Partners delivering Catering, Retail, Leisure, Fire Safety, Security and Grounds Maintenance up to and including Ecology projects. It is an exciting and thriving place to work.
As a regional military hub of strategic importance, it is being heavily invested in and this role offers a chance to integrally shape and deliver vast improvements, upgrades and enhance the lived, trained and equipped experience of our most skilled Commandos. This Hard Facilities Management (HFM) aspect offers a chance to have a huge impact.
Key to this is communication and relationship management. Facilitating Commando interdependencies and interoperability’s with outside agencies and partner forces through a well-managed and delivered estate is vital. Energised individuals welcome.
Of equal importance is the ability to manage a hybrid Military-Civil Servant-Contracting team focused on one intent – to cooperatively deliver the best estate, facilities and services to enable Commando’s to do their job for the UK’s national vitality. This will not be done in isolation as the amazing team and energy are there already, awaiting brilliant leadership and management from a successful candidate.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Primary Purpose of this role is the effective management of the Site Facilities Management Team (7 brilliant persons) and act as the;

  • Establishment Hard and Soft Facilities Management Liaison Officer
  • The Defence Accommodation Stores Budget Holder/Manager
  • Manager of the Accommodation Store
  • Leases, Licences and Encroachments
  • Deputy Postal Liaison Officer

Responsibilities including:

  • Liaise with DIO, Contractors and Top Level Budget (Navy Command) regarding HFM and SFM, output and delivery, including planning annual and outlook Infrastructure requirements. This is to include overseeing the management of all facilities and accommodation.
  • Management of the stock within the Accommodation Store using the current available inventory and ordering systems including Management of the Defence Accommodation Stores (DAS) Account; being responsible for the financial processes as one of the DAS Electronic Procurement (EPC) Card holder; and Management of the Accommodation Store.
  • Leases, Licences and Encroachment. Liaise with DIO Land Management Services regarding the correct management of the Defence Estate for third party users for the HoE. These include Partners Across Government (PAG), outer agencies and Tri-Service (Army, RAF etc.) organisations.
  • As Deputy Postal Officer – manage the Unit Post Office and Postal worker and the mail and parcel delivery system. Conduct the relevant management and compliance checks.
  • Line Management Duties for the civilian Facilities Management Team and involvement in the personal development and reporting of Military personnel.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working.
