SUMMARY

Job Goal: To perform general professional level accounting duties involved in reporting of financial transactions for the Board’s operations, purchasing, insurance and payroll services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred- Associate degree in accounting, finance or business
  • Preferred- BS degree from four year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance or business related field
  • Previous work experience in accounting or finance, preferable in the governmental environment
  • Working knowledge of general office computer software including Microsoft word, Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures and their application to basic accounting transactions
    FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
    Reports To: Principal
    Background Check Required: (Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5 ) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light Work: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects.

Responsibilities
  1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
  2. Manages correspondence, calendars, reports, budgets, discretionary funds, travel arrangements, reimbursements, and agendas for the administrators assigned.
  3. Assists and or prepares time reports for payroll of office staff.
  4. Prepares purchases orders, contracts, and requisitions for department supplies and/or services as directed.
  5. Manages leave and payroll information for department employees as assigned.
  6. Answers questions, and responds to requests from the schools and general public; resolves issues or refers requests as appropriate.
  7. Maintains accurate electronic and non-electronic filing systems of needed reports, minutes, correspondence, information, confidential records, records, schedules, and data as directed.
  8. Assist in any preparations as requested for presentation pertinent data and information as needed.
  9. Communicates effectively and manages office communication processes as directed using telephones, voice mail, electronic mail, postal and/or delivery services, intra-campus delivery and other means as directed.
  10. Orders and maintains needed office supplies.
  11. Performs duties and represents the system and department in a courteous, positive and professional manner.
  12. Arranges for technical support, servicing, and effective operation of office technology and office machines.
  13. Attends and participates in meetings as directed.
  14. Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
  15. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
  16. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
