REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the CNO
  • Completed current medication course
  • Thorough knowledge and proficiency in current nursing principles and practices
  • 3-5 years broad-based practical nursing experience - a community primary health care setting desired
  • Treat each client with compassion, dignity and respect even in the face of challenging situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care
  • Computer proficiency with electronic charting

Responsibilities
  • Works as part of the primary health care team
  • Works at the top of scope of RPN practice
  • Demonstrates safe, quality practice
  • Maintains smooth and efficient flow of patients through their appointments
  • Provides safe administration of medications and immunizations, venipuncture, disinfection/sterilization of equipment and environment, client education and assists practitioners as requested.
  • Triage clients to prioritize urgent needs
  • Ensures adequate supply of common medications and medical supplies
  • Perform phlebotomy and collection of other specimens for testing
