Senior Manager, Governance & Risk

We're looking for an experienced and strategic governance professional to join our team as Senior Manager, Governance & Risk.

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our governance frameworks are contemporary, practical and fit for purpose, while supporting informed decision-making across the organisation.

About the role

As Senior Manager, Governance & Risk, you will lead the ongoing development and implementation of AgriFutures Australia's governance and risk frameworks, ensuring they support transparency, accountability and organisational performance.

Working closely with executives, senior leaders and key stakeholders, you will:

• Lead and continuously improve governance, compliance and risk management frameworks.
• Provide strategic governance and risk advice to executives and senior leaders.
• Drive compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations.
• Oversee governance instruments, policies, delegations and key organisational registers.
• Lead enterprise risk management reporting, controls and improvement initiatives.
• Support governance reporting to the Executive, Audit Committee and Board.
• Monitor changes in legislation and emerging governance requirements.
• Build governance capability across the organisation through coaching, training and practical support.
• Lead and support one direct report while fostering a positive, collaborative and high-performing culture.

About you

You are a trusted adviser who combines strong technical expertise with sound judgement, a collaborative approach and the ability to influence positive outcomes across complex stakeholder environments. 

You will bring:

• Significant experience in governance, risk, compliance or accountability roles.
• Demonstrated experience advising senior leaders and executives on governance and risk matters.
• Experience designing and implementing governance frameworks, policies, controls and reporting arrangements.
• Strong understanding of governance in highly regulated or accountable environments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality executive, Board and Audit Committee papers.
• Strong project and change leadership capability.
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Highly regarded

• Qualifications in law, governance, public policy, business, risk, commerce or a related discipline.
• Experience working within a Commonwealth entity, government agency, statutory authority or similar organisation.
• Knowledge of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act).
• Experience supporting Boards, Audit Committees or Executive leadership teams.
