BeefSmart, a leading independent animal nutrition and production management consulting company, requires an experienced Ruminant Beef Nutritionist to support growing demand for its cow/calf and feedlot consulting services in Saskatchewan, Alberta or Manitoba, Canada.

This is a home office-based position located in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba requiring regular travel to client operations in the area as well as some travel within Canada and the United States. Opportunities exist to work out of office settings if the candidate is located near Lethbridge, Saskatoon or Swift Current.

SUMMARY:

· Provide nutrition and production management services to clients with a focus on optimizing production performance, efficiency and ultimately the profitability of the producer.
· Developing new business in specific sectors of the beef industry
· Expand BeefSmart’s nutrition, production and management services business.
· Providing measurable improvements on client cow/calf and feedlot performance and profits.

ABILITIES REQUIRED:

· Operate independently to manage client relationships and provide required services.
· Strong communication skills to apply knowledge and new technology at the customer level.
· Effective time management and organization skills.
· Consultative selling approach to demonstrate value of BeefSmart services and secure new service contracts.
· Strong understanding of the sales process is an asset
· Ability to develop and assess regional sales markets

QUALIFICATIONS:

· MSc or PhD in Animal Science candidates are preferred for the ruminant nutritionist position and an undergraduate degree would be as asset for the sales position. Work experience specializing in ruminant nutrition, feedlot and ranch management is an asset
· The ideal candidate should have a minimum 3 years in-the-field experience working with modern ranch and feedlot operations.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Proficiency in ration balancing software (et. NDS Professional) would be an asset.
· Knowledge of feedlot management software (e.g. Fusion, ITS, PLA, etc.) considered an asset.
