Overview As a part of the animal care team, you will learn valuable herd management techniques. Primary responsibilities include: safe and proper herd management of safari animals, and monitoring/assisting Wild Safari guests. Responsibilities Use a radio to communicate to other wardens and management team. Operate vehicle safely. Maintain a safe work area. Assist guests needs (i.e. car trouble, bathroom, escorts out, etc.) Move animals out of roadways and away from gates. Report to work on time. Maintain proper record keeping. Enforce all Wild Safari rules. Able to work on your own most of the day while still functioning as part of a team. Check your assigned section daily. This includes fence lines, trees down, wires not working, animal counts, and any animal issues. Report these issues to management team. Maintain animal sections in safari including cleaning, feeding, and exhibit maintenance. Cooperate with all team members and management. Complete any and all tasks as directed by management even outside the duties listed. Qualifications Must have the ability to work close to animals. Previous animal experience preferred. Individuals must be able to lift and move 50 pounds or more. Must be extremely safety conscious. At least 18 years of age. Must have a valid drivers’ license. Able to communicate effectively in English Must be able to work in all weather conditions: cold, heat, rain, wind, etc. Must be able to sit in vehicles for up to 6 hours at a time and as many as 10 hours a day.
