Job Description The Project ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney. Project scope includes: Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway As Safety Advisor, you support the Safety Manager and site leadership to deliver an incident and injury free workplace. You coordinate WHS activities on site, lead inductions and toolbox talks, and guide supervisors and subcontractors on safe work practices. You investigate incidents, review SWMS and permits, and help ensure all project operations meet legal, client and ACCIONA requirements. Specific Tasks Include Promote strong safety culture with workers, clients and authorities Coordinate site WHS inspections, audits and observations Lead project specific inductions and toolbox talks Investigate incidents, hazards and near misses and recommend actions Support managers and supervisors to meet WHS and environmental duties Review SWMS, permits and high risk work for compliance and risk control Manage safety reporting, RTW plans and WorkCover requirements as directed Required Skills and Competencies Qualifications and Experience Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or equivalent WHS experience on large scale civil infrastructure projects Prior experience working in a tunnel environment would be advantageous Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, systems and audits Proven incident investigation and clear report writing skills Confident communicator across all levels on site ACCIONA has been given the Top Employer 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 certification in Australia, which certifies the company's commitment to excellence in human resources management and those who focus on putting their people first through their exceptional HR policies.
