Downer has a long- term opportunity for a safety professional to join our team based out of Underdale, South Australia. As a Safety Advisor, you will actively support, coach, mentor and provide technical advice to internal stakeholders. This dynamic role offers a blend of site-based and office exposure, with a strong focus on fostering collaboration to achieve our Safety objectives, while also contributing to business innovation. Key responsibilities * Coach operational teams on risk management—facilitating risk assessments, SWMS, and critical risk controls, and stopping work where immediate risks exist. * Plan and deliver internal audits and site inspections; support external ISO/third‑party audits and close out findings.  * Lead and support incident reporting and investigations, and drive timely, effective corrective actions with a focus on hard controls. * Maintain high-quality Zero Harm data and reporting. * Monitor legislation and standards, communicate changes, and ensure compliance with The Downer Standard and relevant WHS/OHS frameworks.  * Support return‑to‑work and injury management processes in partnership with internal specialists and stakeholders.  * Champion a strong Zero Harm culture across sites. * Build strong relationships with managers, supervisors, and crews.   What you'll bring * Certificate 4 Work Health and Safety minimum.  * Exposure to civil road maintenance or construction (desirable).  * ICAM Lead Incident Investigation (desirable).  * Experience conducting audits and preparation of corrective actions and reports.  * Participated in high level incident investigations.  * Flexible with working night shift when required.  * Ability to positively influence change and communicate effectively with multiple types of stakeholders.  * High level of problem solving with the ability to professionally navigate complex situations. * Strong computer and data analysis skills that extend to report collation and presentation.    Downer is a company that believes people are our greatest asset.
