QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of or ability to obtain the New Jersey School Safety Specialist Certification within a specified timeframe.
  • Strong Leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of New Jersey school safety laws, regulations and reporting requirements (e.g., Alyssa’s Law, HIB, MOA with Law Enforcement).
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations calmly and effectively.
  • Knowledge of New Jersey education laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and motivational skills are essential, as is the ability to defuse confrontational situations and work with diverse populations.
  • Required criminal history background check, physical examination, PPD/drug screening under Board Policy.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  • Proficiency in the use of security technology systems (e.g., surveillance, access control).
  • Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
    REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools and Superintendent’s Designee.
    PRIMARY FUNCTION: The School Safety & Security Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the safety and security of the district. This role involves developing and implementing safety and security plans, coordinating with law enforcement, and ensuring compliance with state laws and regulat ions. The coordinator provides training to staff, manages security personnel, and serves as a liaison for various agencies and serves as the district’s School Safety Specialist.
