Description Position Summary: The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Foundation’s safety and security operations, including implementing and informing policies; hiring, training and managing safety and security ambassadors; conducting risk assessments; investigating security breaches; and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations to proactively protect assets, employees, and visitors from potential threats and mitigate risks. The Safety and Security Manager oversees the team of Ambassadors. Their presence at Taliesin West has three core purposes: To convey and create a sense of safety and security for residents, employees, and guests. To protect physical assets (buildings, collections, and landscapes) through careful observation, assessment, and action. To create a welcoming and approachable concierge atmosphere that improves the overall experience for residents, employees, and guests. As a key member of the Public Engagement team at Taliesin West, the Safety and Security Manager supports the overall safety and security of employees, guests, residents and the 495-acre site. They report to the Director of Public Engagement and work closely with the Director of Preservation and the Bruce Brooks Pfeiffer Director of Collections & Archives. Key, daily/weekly duties include: Scheduling and providing security ambassador coverage 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Supervising security personnel ensuring they are properly equipped and trained to handle security incidents. Conducting regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and develop appropriate security measures to minimize risks. Investigating security breaches, responding to emergencies, and coordinating with law enforcement when necessary. Ensuring guest and employee safety. Elevating the guest experience while ensuring guests are adhering to routing and rules. Facilitating Safety Committee meetings(monthly) Overseeing adherence to policies related to safety and security Overall Scope of Essential Functions: Security strategies: Implementing and informing comprehensive security policies and procedures to address potential threats like theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access. Risk assessment and mitigation: Conducting regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and develop appropriate security measures to minimize risks. Staff management: Hiring, training, and supervising security personnel, including security ambassadors, ensuring they are properly equipped and trained to handle security incidents. Incident response: Investigating security breaches, responding to emergencies, and coordinating with law enforcement when necessary. AlertMedia Management: Interfacing with AlertMedia – a third party application used for emergency communications and managing app database. Training: Coordinate and schedule emergency response plans for various scenarios, including fire drills, active shooter situations, first aid, CPR, AED, and collection emergencies. Compliance management: Ensuring adherence to all relevant security regulations and standards. Liaison with law enforcement: Maintaining relationships with local law enforcement agencies to collaborate on security issues. Interdepartmental Communication: Promoting a safety & security-conscious culture by facilitating Safety Committee meetings, newsletter submissions. Overnight Coverage: Coverage provided during closed hours - 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Create contingency coverage plan. Daytime Coverage: Provide coverage during open hours. Ensuring guest and employee safety. Elevating the guest experience while ensuring guests are adhering to routing and rules. Overseeing adherence to policies related to safety and security. This position is a full-time with an hourly pay of $25.2404 ($52,500K/yr), plus comprehensive benefits including a paid-time-off package. The Foundation pays up to 90% of monthly health-care premiums and enrolls all regular full-time employees into our life insurance, short-term and long-term disability policies at no cost to employees. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of 2 to 3 years managerial experience. A minimum of 2 o 3 years' experience in a safety and security role. Warm, friendly, and eager, a "people person" with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated problem-solving and interpersonal skills including the ability to work and communicate with a diverse audience, including adults, children, staff, the public, and volunteers. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to always find solutions within an environment demanding responsiveness under all conditions. Ability to navigate and traverse desert terrain, both paved and unpaved, and to regularly stand and/or walk for longer intervals. Demonstrated comfort in a team environment, with strong collaboration and problem­ solving skills. General proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher) and ability to learn scheduling and emergency communication software programs. Ability to work a full-time schedule that consistently includes weekends and occasional evening hours in support of events, special tours, and coverage of call-ins. Availability to provide on-site response to emergency calls. Valid AZ Driver’s License There is no requirement from Arizona Department of Public Safety to carry a Security Ambassador Card. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with security operations within a historic house or museum setting.
