Description

ABOUT US:

RATP Dev Western Sydney Airport (RDWSA) is a proud subsidiary of RATP Dev and part of the RATP Group, a global leader in public transport. With operations spanning 16 countries and over more than 100 subsidiaries, we design, operate, and maintain urban and interurban transport networks that move millions of people every day. From automated metros to buses and trams, our expertise ensures seamless, reliable and sustainable mobility.
As a contractor to the Australian Federal and NSW governments, Parklife Metro is leading a transformative metro project connecting St Marys to Bradfield, linking with the new Western Sydney Airport.
The Parklife Metro (PLM) consortium made up of Plenary, RATP Dev, Siemens, and Webuild is delivering the Stations, Systems, Trains and Operations & Maintenance (SSTOM) package of works for the Sydney Metro-Western Sydney Airport (SM-WSA) project.
RDWSA will proudly operate and maintain 6 new stations, 12 metro trains, core rail systems, and a state-of-the-art stabling and maintenance facility at Orchard Hills on the Western Sydney Airport metro line for 15 years after the line has become operational.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Systems Assurance Manager, this role will be responsible for managing system safety requirements during the Delivery and Operational Readiness phases, and for preparing the final Operational Safety Case for RDWSA. Your day to day might include:

  • Managing system safety during the delivery and operational readiness phases of the project
  • Leading the development and ongoing revision of the Operational Safety Case, ensuring alignment with all relevant safety assurance documentation (including SARs, SASs, SRACs, RCMs, and hazard analyses)
  • Reviewing and assuring design and construction safety documentation, ensuring risk controls, hazard assessments, system designs, and procedures are compliant with standards and integrated into O&M processes
  • Developing and implementing efficient safety assurance processes in collaboration with key stakeholders, in accordance with the safety management system
  • Supporting the delivery of progressive safety assurance cases and safety arguments, including the application of Goal Structured Notation
  • Participating in risk analysis and assessment activities, and recommending effective risk control measures
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on systems assurance submissions from contractors and consortium partners
  • Ensuring system safety requirements are incorporated into design phases and participating in review processes
  • Liaising with external stakeholders—including the client, Independent Safety Assessor, and regulators—to report progress and ensure the consistent application of system safety across the project lifecycle.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Science or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience managing safety assurance and system safety in major project environments, ideally within complex GOA4 rail systems.
  • Strong expertise in systems engineering and system safety within large-scale infrastructure or transport projects.
  • Proficiency in developing safety arguments using Goal Structured Notation (GSN).
  • A solid understanding of Rail Safety National Law, Work Health & Safety (WHS), and relevant environmental legislation.
  • Working knowledge of EN50126 and its application to RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) in railway systems.
