THE SAFETY COACH PLAYS A CRITICAL ROLE IN PROMOTING A CULTURE OF SAFETY AND ENSURING STRICT ADHERENCE TO ALL DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (DOT) REGULATIONS AND COMPANY POLICIES. THIS POSITION FOCUSES ON COACHING, COUNSELING, AND EDUCATING DRIVERS TO MAINTAIN COMPLIANCE AND UPHOLD THE HIGHEST SAFETY STANDARDS.What you will be doing:

  • Provide individualized coaching to drivers on safe driving practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Address and correct unsafe driving behaviors, including issues related to speed monitoring, roll stability, hard braking, and hours-of-service violations.
  • Deliver initial, remedial, and ongoing safety and compliance training sessions for drivers.
  • Organize and coordinate travel to terminals to conduct in-person counseling or training for drivers requiring performance improvement.
  • Follow up with drivers as needed to reinforce remedial and refresher safety and compliance training.
  • Collaborate with drivers and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Document, report, and recommend corrective actions for safety and compliance concerns, and implement solutions as appropriate.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Hours-of-Service regulations and related compliance matters.

TALENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours-of-Service requirements.
  • Familiarity with commercial vehicle telematics systems.
  • Experience with drive cam technology and speed monitoring systems.
  • Background in accident investigation.
  • Prior experience with systems such as AS-400, PCMiler, Netgraph, Peoplenet, Elogs, and TPI.
  • Strong ability to create, manage, and analyze spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated capacity to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of SMITH System driver training.
