Mrs. Gerry’s was founded in 1973 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Mrs. Gerry’s is a premier salad and side manufacturer and offers 120 different products which are sold coast to coast.
Reporting To: Safety Manager
Starting Wage: $25.80 per hour
Hours: 10:00pm – 6:30am, Sunday-Thursday (end time may vary)

SUMMARY

Looking for an experienced safety coordinator to implement and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years safety experience in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Presentation skills to deliver training. Ability to communicate, resolve conflict, and problem solve.
  • Bi-lingual preferred (read, write, and speak), English plus Karen and/or Spanish
  • Must be accurate with numbers and detail orientated to maintain records for audits.
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record (required)
  • Forklift, scissor lift, and/or pallet jack license (required and will train)
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, BBP, Certificates (required and will train)
  • First responder is a plus
  • OSHA 30-hour course is a plus (will provide)
  • Various classes must be taken to be able to teach employees, i.e., Lockout/Tagout, Train the Trainer, etc
Responsibilities
  • Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Fulfill planned safety programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, equipment, pallet jack, forklift operations, etc.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries and assist in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Transport employees for post-accident testing and minor injury evaluation. Document near miss and investigations.
  • Conduct quarterly lockout/tagout audits for production, maintenance, and sanitation.
  • Schedule and conduct of fire/tornado drills, alarm tests, and record the dates/results for audits.
  • Know and follow all safety and quality standards as determined by HACCP and SQF. Assist in enforcing all safety policies and procedures set forth by the company.
  • Safety coordinators are visibly present and conducting job duties approximately 75% in the plant and 25% in the office.
  • Influence and lead others to perform to the highest level of safety practices.
  • All other duties as assigned.
