Job Title: Safety Coordinator
Position Summary: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety programs, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and promoting a safe work environment for all employees. This role involves conducting training sessions and assisting with safety audits. This role is also responsible for overseeing the compliance, safety, and operational efficiency of the company’s vehicle fleet. This role involves ensuring adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, managing fleet records and maintaining driver records and compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Health, Safety, DOT, Training or Fleet Coordinator role
Experience working with DOT regulations preferred
Excellent communication and training skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and other relevant regulations.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
CPR Trainer Certification preferred.
Workers’ Compensation Claims Management (Preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday. At times, employees are required to be on their feet for much of their shift.
Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, and move boxes or packages that may weigh up to 25 pounds. Lifting heavy objects may be required occasionally.
Bending, Stooping, and Squatting: Ability to bend, stoop, and squat to organize or retrieve materials from shelves or storage areas.
Manual Dexterity and Coordination: Good hand-eye coordination for tasks such as organizing materials and entering data into systems. Using computers or other office equipment requires fine motor skills.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and precision, particularly when entering data and reviewing documents. Mistakes in documentation can lead to operational issues.
Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, supporting multiple departments, and addressing staff or logistical concerns.
Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues. Must be able to think critically and make decisions that affect the smooth operation of departmental functions.
Organizational Skills: Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a variety of tasks efficiently. Safety Coordinators need to keep track of tasks and documentation effectively.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with other departments, vendors, or staff. The ability to relay information clearly and accurately, both face-to-face and electronically.
Training: Conveys information clearly and understandably with the ability to engage students actively in the learning process. Able to adjust to class based on student progress, feedback, different learning paces and styles.
Focus and Concentration: Ability to maintain focus and stay attentive to tasks, especially when working in a busy, fast-paced environment. Strong concentration skills to ensure that all processes are carried out thoroughly.
Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively, ensuring that deadlines and goals are met in a timely manner while balancing various tasks.
Adaptability and Flexibility: Mental ability to adapt to changes in schedules, priorities, or job responsibilities. Ability to handle high-pressure situations, especially during peak times.
Customer Service Orientation: Ability to interact directly with employees, customers or suppliers. A calm demeanor, patience, and professionalism are essential for resolving any issues or inquiries.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $24.00-28.00 / hour
Reports To: Vice President, Safety
Location: The Woodlands, TX (Onsite)
