We are seeking an experienced, boots-on-the-ground Safety Coordinator to lead our safety program across New England. This is a key role in keeping our team, subcontractors, and clients safe while ensuring full compliance with federal and state safety standards.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Safety Coordinator will manage and oversee all jobsite safety efforts. You will conduct field inspections, ensure OSHA and state-specific compliance, lead training initiatives, and champion a proactive safety culture throughout the company. The position requires frequent travel across New England and close coordination with field crews, project managers, and regulatory agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- 3–5+ years of safety experience in the construction industry
- OSHA 30-Hour (Construction) certification
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 and DOT regulations
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout New England
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred
- HAZWOPER 40 certification
- OSHA 500 certification
- Familiarity with New England environmental agencies (MassDEP, ME DEP, NH DES, etc.)
- Experience with petroleum construction (UST/AST installation, piping, tank removal, etc.)

Field Safety Leadership
- Perform regular safety inspections at job sites across New England
- Identify hazards and implement corrective actions immediately
- Partner with site supervisors and project managers to reinforce daily safe work practices
- Ensure sites comply with OSHA 1926 standards and state-specific regulations
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and environmental health regulations
- Maintain all jobsite safety documentation, including site-specific safety plans, SDS sheets, and safety-related permits
Training & Development
- Deliver safety orientation for all new hires and subcontractors
- Conduct toolbox talks, tailgate meetings, and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
- Coordinate required training certifications such as Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection, HAZWOPER, and DOT/FMCSA
- Lead annual refresher courses and site-specific training as needed
Incident Investigation
- Lead root cause investigations for accidents and near misses
- Document findings and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate with insurance carriers and state agencies as needed (e.g., workers’ comp, OSHA response)
Continuous Improvement
- Analyze trends in incidents, audits, and reports to proactively reduce risk
- Participate in pre-construction safety planning and project start-up meetings
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and improve safety procedures and programs
