WHAT WE DO HERE AT HLE:

Over almost 30 years, we have worked in the public works sector. More precisely in highway work. Our area of concentration includes sign lighting, freeway lighting, street lighting, traffic signals, and ramp metering systems. Any electrical components that are related to that scope of work fall under our specialty. Our project’s physical footprint spans from our Southern California offices throughout California to its Northern Border.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in safety roles within the construction, heavy industrial, or oil/energy sectors.
  • Cal/OSHA Policy and Procedures
  • Caltrans Construction Specifications and Plans
  • Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations safety requirements.

SOFT SKILLS

  • Effective Communication: Ability to convey information clearly and concisely to different audiences, including safety orientations and meetings.
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with others, including safety managers and subcontractors.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead safety meetings and foster a workplace safety culture.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify safety issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions regarding safety.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changes in regulations, procedures, and working conditions.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to identify critical details that may affect safety.
  • Empathy and Sensitivity: Understanding of workers’ concerns regarding safety and health.
  • Stress Management: Ability to work under pressure and manage emergency situations.

HARD SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, Vista and other required software.
  • It is essential to speak, read and write fluently in Spanish and English.
  • Familiarity with construction site inspection tools and reporting systems.
  • First aid and CPR
  • Entry into confined spaces
  • Fall protection
  • OSHA 30 or OSHA 510
  • Safety Policy Development: Ability to draft and update site-specific safety policies and programs.
  • Risk Assessment: Ability to conduct risk assessments and analyze contract specifications.
  • Safety Inspections: Experience conducting daily inspections and safety audits.
  • Job Hazard Analysis (JHA): Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing work plans and JHAs.
  • Documentation Management: Ability to manage and maintain updated Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and other related documents.
  • Incident Investigation: Ability to investigate incidents and near misses, as well as develop corrective action plans.
  • Use of Compliance Platforms: Familiarity with safety and compliance management software.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ability to write safety status reports and maintain accurate records.
