POSITION SUMMARY

SVD, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to support both employee health & safety and food safety initiatives across our facilities. This role will ensure compliance with all company policies, OSHA regulations, and food safety standards (HACCP/GFSI). The Safety Coordinator will lead training, oversee regulatory compliance, manage injury reporting, and serve as a key point of contact for inspections and audits.
This role also supports HR-related compliance functions, including injury/incident reporting, workers’ compensation tracking, and employee training documentation.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Certification: HACCP and GFSI certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in safety training, OSHA compliance, or food safety in a manufacturing environment (food industry strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of OSHA, HACCP, GFSI, and environmental regulations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook; PowerPoint preferred).
  • Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) – able to read, write, and communicate effectively in both.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between company facilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends if required.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs and work in varied environments (office, warehouse, cold, heat, noise, moving equipment).

Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and programs in accordance with OSHA, HACCP, and GFSI requirements.
  • Conduct safety orientations for new hires and ongoing safety training for employees at all levels.
  • Lead and document weekly safety meetings, as well as quarterly/annual training as required by law.
  • Establish and maintain a safety committee with representation from each department and shift.
  • Track and maintain OSHA records, injury logs, and inspection reports; ensure all records are up to date.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Accompany inspectors during audits and regulatory visits; proactively prepare departments ahead of inspections.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental programs (AQMD, Stormwater, Air Resources Board, Fire Department, etc.), including permits and required documentation.
  • Manage dissemination of recall information to all stakeholders in a timely manner.

Food Safety

  • Support compliance with HACCP, GMP, and food safety policies across production areas.
  • Conduct annual reviews of:
  • Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
  • Basic Components of Food Safety
  • Food Safety Management Program
  • Ensure the Food Safety Management Team organizational chart and responsibilities remain current.
